Oldies 1130 WBF would like to thank the many volunteers, who freely and without hesistation give their time, energy and experience to the young men and women participating in athletic competition. These individuals love the game, and along with the rest of us enjoy watching the young people of Polk County compete at the highest level.
It takes alot of time, equipment and sponsors to make local broadcast of high school sporting events possible. But thanks to the outpouring of time, energy and compasion from these community-minded individuals, we are never lacking in talent behind the microphone. |
Dennis has been with Oldies 1130 WBF since 1992 broadcasting Yellow Jacket baseball and softball games. During the Bartow football season, Dennis is at the controls back at the radio station, getting the game broadcasts on the air and even spinning some tunes.
Dennis has been covering the Lady Jackets over the past 9 years, seeing Bartow win four straight state crowns. In his free time, Dennis enjoys golf and helping out with area sporting events. Coach Clark, as he is known to most Bartow youth, grew up in Ohio and played high school sports and professionally for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. A retired postal carrier, Dennis also did some scouting for the Pirates. Now he works with the National Scouting Department and Scout Camps in the Eastern USA. Click here to e-mail Dennis Clark.
Bruce, along with Dennis, bring us the excitment of Bartow Yellow Jacket baseball and softball. Bruce is a graduate of Bartow High School, and his two sons Jack and Justin played on the Jacket football squad.
Bruce has been broadcasting the Jacket games over the past 4 years. Bruce has coached Bartow youth at the middle and high school levels, and is currently working on the junior varsity and varsity football teams.
Clint is the newest addition to the WBF sports team. Since 2003, Clint has been courtside broadcasting games for the Bartow boys varsity basketball squad.
When not behind the microphone, Clinit works at his family business, Tom Edwards Chrysler Dodge, as a sales representative. A graduate from the Lakeland Christian School, Clint attended two years of community college before enlisting in the US Navy. During Operation Enduring Freedom, Clint spent two years aboard the USS Carter Hall, transporting and supplying Marine battalions in Iraq. Clint is very excited to be back home, where he gets to watch and broadcast Yellow Jacket basketball.
Lynn is active in Bartow baseball as a coach with Dixie Youth baseball and coaching on the Yellow Jacket junior varsity football program. He is a graduate of Bartow High School, where he played football and baseball.
Lynn can be heard covering all Yellow Jackets sports, from helping to broadcast baseball and softball, to roaming the football sidelines adding commentary and analysis to the Yellow Jacket football broadcasts. Lynn served three years as president of the Yellow Jacket Booster Club. He is a avid golfer and can be found participating and broadcasting many sporting events. Lynn is married to Sandy, a dean at Bartow Middle School, and they have three children, Nic, Jake-Ann and Trey.
Fred began covering Bartow football in 1991. As the voice of Yellow Jacket football, he joins Don Stratton in providing play-by-play of Yellow Jacket football.
Fred is a BHS graduate and former baseball player for the Yellow Jackets. Prior to joining the broadcast crew of WBF, Fred was the public address announcer for BHS football and baseball, and a former president of the Yellow Jacket Booster Club. Fred is married to Cindy and they have two children, Greg, a former Yellow Jacket football and baseball player and Courtney, a former member of the Yellow Jacket volleyball team. Fred also enjoys his three grandsons Gregory Jr., Garrett and Logan all future Yellow Jackets.
Don graduated from BHS where he played football, basketball and baseball. He attended South Florida Junior College on a baseball scholarship. A graduate of USF, Don served four years in the US Air Force stationed in Vietnam.
Don served as an assistant basketball coach for nine years at BHS. Don has been active in sports for over 30 plus years and on the WBF sports team for over 20. Don teams with Fred Rhoden to provide commentary and analysis for Yellow Jacket football. Don is the State Director of Florida ISA softball and the National VP of Softball for ISA. Don and his wife Mary have two children, Mike a chiropractor and Kim who works at Mike's office. They have three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Victoria and Deelaney.
Jeff is our engineering director, in charge of setting up our remote broadcast equipment and 'getting the game on the air.' A graduate of Lake Wales High School, he went on to receive a BA degree from ITT Technical Institute in Tampa and Indianapolis.
During the Yellow Jacket football season, Jeff also tracks game stats and scores from other local football games. Jeff also maintains the WBF web site at wwbf.com. The site contains many pages dedicated to Yellow Jacket sports, including game stories, and schedules, along with an archive of radio broadcasts. Jeff and his wife Kim have one son, Christopher, a junior at Bartow High School. Their family enjoys auto racing, football and spending time with their dog, Taz.
